Maintenance Service

Preventative Maintenance – Safety and Assurance for your Roller Shutters and Manual or Automatic Doors. In order to maintain the operational efficiency and safety of your Doors and Shutters, they will need regular servicing throughout their working life. This should be at least once a year, but for doors that are subject to heavy use then either 3 month, 4 month or 6 month service intervals should be considered. Our programmes of Planned Maintenance are designed to keep your Doors and Shutters working at peak performance.

Each service is planned at a date to suit the customer. If necessary we can even plan out of hours servicing so as not to disrupt your business or your customers.

There are many benefits to this:
  • Avoid inconvenient due to unexpected failures and costly emergency door repairs
  • Minimise disruption and security issues to your business
  • Maintain safe & reliable access
  • Compliance with health & safety regulations
  • Ensure continuous operation
  • Extend the life of your Doors and Shutters to keep them working at optimum levels

Our Door Maintenance Contracts range from a single door, e.g. into a medical centre, to multi-door sites, e.g. shopping centres. These contracts are individually tailored by one of our sales team, typically during a site visit.

A Standard Inspection includes minor repairs on surface fittings whilst a Full Inspection includes minor repairs on both surface and concealed fittings.

During a typical maintenance and inspection visit, the following work is carried out:

  • All Manual Door components are visually inspected for wear and damage, including:
    • Door leaves and frame
    • Hinges, locks and door furniture
    • Closures, arms and pivots
    • Tracks and sliding gear
    • Any door seals
  • The operation of the Automatic Door is tested, including:
    • Test the activation
    • Test any controlled entry equipment
    • Test any safety features
    • Check all electrical connections and battery backup
    • Check the drive mechanism and motor
    • Switch the operation to emergency manual
    • Lubrication of all moving parts, as necessary

We will also report how your door meets current legislation, in particular the Equality Act 2010 (inclusive of the former Disability Discrimination Act) and British Standard BS7036 and EN-16005.

The UK Shopfronts (U.K.) Ltd. approach to planned maintenance allows us to keep information about your assets in a centrally based secure cloud system. It allows us to programme your services well in advance. You don’t have to remind us, nor do you have to keep telling us what you have.

The information is scheduled into the engineer’s electronic diary and job management pad so that he knows well in advance of your service requirements. On completion the job is signed off by the client and immediately sent back to our office across the internet. We then have the option to send you your report electronically, or print it off as a pdf should you prefer a hard copy sent out. Of course, this system allows us to eliminate the old paper trail job system making it faster, cleaner and more effective for both parties.
